Startups and New Solutions in the Health Industry Conference

The University of Debrecen Technology Transfer Center organized a conference on 17th November at Startup Week Debrecen. The event closed with SmartHealth Innovation Ideas Competition where Sándor Varga-Tarr, Business Unit Director of DBH Group, was a juror.

During the first half of the conference successful Hungarian startups from the health sector introduced their activities and shared their experiences with emerging startups. Hand-in-Scan, one of DBH Group’s investments also gave a speech about how they developed from a project at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics into an internationally known company with valuable patent.

Sándor Varga-Tarr gave practical advise to startups in his presentation, and drew attention to the challenges of the health sector and pointed out possible solutions as well.

In the second half of the event the organizers held a pitch session, allowing discovery of promising innovative ideas related to the health industry. After the pre-screening 9 teams  had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the jury, which included Sándor Varga-Tarr, Business Unit Director of DBH SeedStar.

• Máté Rab, Founder of !gen Debrecen (Innovative Generations Debrecen)
• Attila Tóth, M.D., PhD, The University of Debrecen, Faculty of Medicine
• Norbert Buzás, PhD., Head of the Knowledge Management Research Center at the University of Szeged

The PreLife project won the competition, their idea provides a solution which could increase the efficiency of in vitro fertilization and artificial reproduction.
