The Hungarian MosaicLights won V4 Startups & Scale-ups 2016 international conference’s competition among the teams from Visegrad countries. The technological company is participating in DBH SeedStar’s acceleration program, so this success is also a great achievement for DBH Group’s business incubator.
DBH Group co-organized this investment conference together with the Embassies of V4 countries, Altex, CzechInvest, DeInvesteerdersClub, Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship and Startup Fest Europe. The event’s aim was to facilitate exchanges between up-and-coming startups and growth companies from Central Europe and the wider investment community. V4 Startups&Scale-ups 2016 is a networking and information platform showcasing innovative startups and other investment opportunities from the dynamic sectors of Visegrad (V4 – Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia) countries.
The main goal of the event was to share the experiences and results of building the startup ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe, and to create an opportunity for the startups of V4 countries to introduce themselves in front of investors, business partners and public sector organizations. The event was opened by Constantijn van Oranje, prince of the Netherlands; and by Jana Reinišová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic.
The Best Startup (grand prize of the event) was won by MosaicLights among 21 startup companies. The winner company develops such touch-controlled modular LED technology, which can be integrated into surfaces that surrounds us, and provides cost-efficient lighting opportunities for unique interior design solutions, healthcare institutions and public spaces. The technology can be used as a solution for underwater surfaces as well. The company already has a registered patent in Europe, with an ongoing patent registration in the US.
“We are honored that we could present our product in such a prominent event, where international businessmen and governmental leaders both participated. Besides, it was interesting to learn about other startups from the V4 countries, and a pleasure to see that there is a really strong competition in the Central and Eastern Europe region concerning the startup ecosystem – thus I consider this victory as a great success “– Zoltán Kiss, founder and managing director of MosaicLights presented his experiences.
“I believe in our product unconditionally and I felt that I did my best during the presentation, but I have to confess, that even I did not expect such an overall success. We managed to earn the first prize of ING Wholesale Banking (innovation workshop participation), and an offering of EY (2500 € value of strategic consultancy)” – Zoltán Kiss listed the prizes. “These are outstanding achievements on their own, but I have to say, we were the most excited about the Best Startup prize, that provides participation to Startup Fest, the biggest startup event in the Netherlands. During the preparation we got a lot of help from the team of DBH SeedStar, our company has taken part of their acceleration program in Netherlands since months; we are thankful for their help concerning our achievements in Rotterdam, and our introduction in Amsterdam” – concluded the head of MosaicLights his experiences.
“We are pleased to MosaicLights’ success, since we believed in them from the beginning, and since we could help them with all the work of the previous months” – said Adrienn Ujfalusi, leader of DBH SeedStar’s acceleration program in Netherlands.
“Zoltán was always opened to our advices. As a result, there are agreements emerging with clients in the Netherlands and with strategic partners working in various fields of application. Of course, this success couldn’t have been achieved without the unique technology and the market potential of the product” – Adrienn Ujfalusi concluded their collaboration.
“We met with Zoltán last year at our event in the Netherlands that provided pitch – and exhibition opportunities for Hungarian startups, where we started our cooperation as a result of conversations. We saw the opportunity in MosaicLights, and knew that we have that kind of knowledge of business development and network capital, which is required to launch a startup like MosaicLights. We are glad that the time and work invested has proven us” – highlighted Sándor Varga-Tarr, Business Unit Director of DBH SeedStar.
“This success clearly demonstrates the viability of Hungarian startups in the international field, as well as the evidence that with focused business development a company’s chance to succeed in (also international) business increases. We will endeavor to contribute in this kind of successes in the future and to help our partner startups to create partnerships and palpable revenues”. – added Sándor Varga-Tarr.
We will organize the next event of V4 Startups&Scaleups in 2017, where hopefully we could present further successes of Hungarian startups.
